Dollification, what is it?

Simply put, dollification is a role-play kink that involves taking on the persona of, or lackthereof, a doll. The transformation can be physical as well as mental. Let’s talk a bit about what things might fall into the expansive kink.

It can involve elements of dressing up, servitude, objectification, slavery, becoming “inanimate”, puppetry, sometimes it can include elements of hypnotism, sexual use, bimboficiation, you can be a stuffed animal, G.I. Joe, or anything else you can think of. For some, dollification can also include body modification, additions such as saline injections for temporary body changes like a larger chest, or latex suits to dehumanize or changes the features of your doll (whether it’s larger inflatable breasts, covering their head so there’s nothing visible other than their mouth, or even exaggerated features like larger lips, or heavy cosmetics).

Typically, the submissive partner is the doll. Some dolls are passive, some are “action dolls” and can be “programmed” almost like drones or robots.  For some people, the appeal of being a doll is that someone else makes your decisions, whether that be about what to wear, how to act, what to do, or something more.

The Dominant partner in these scenario’s is often referred to as a Maker. The Maker is the one who either “makes” the dolls perform actions, dresses the doll, programs the doll, and whatever else has been planned for the play session.

Some scenarios for dollification might include tea parties, dressing up your doll, showing them off, painting their nails, doing their hair, posing them in elaborate situations, perhaps you are aroused by sexually using your doll, and whether you choose a passive doll to use sexually or one that’s animated and participates there’s a lot of fun to be played with in that area. Perhaps you like a robot and want a maid drone to cook and serve you, then become your foot rest for the evening. You could attach ropes or string to certain joints like the wrists and ankles and make your doll a puppet and use the strings to assist in moving their limbs around and positioning your doll. Maybe you want to put dolly in a box?  If you can think of it, it’s possible! Get creative!

What is the difference between dollification and another kink like sissification? In broad strokes, sissification, it is typically a male submissive wanting to be forced into hyper feminine dress and behaviours, often with elements of humiliation and removal of agency involved, exploring themes of emasculation, shame, or punishment as prominent features, but of course there are variations of this for some people, as there is with any kink. Dollification is more about objectification, control, an opportunity to switch off their brains, and can be undertaken by submissives of any gender, and rarely includes elements of humiliation and shame.

As with any kink, there needs to extensive negotiation about what everyone wants to feel, experience, explore, limits, and aftercare needs beforehand, because sometimes removal of autonomy can be confronting, but it can also be freeing.
